Sweet Summer Treats Math Printable

Sweet Summer Treats Math Printable

One of my favorite things about the summer is eating tons of ice cream! Anyone that knows me knows I will never turn down an ice cream cone. This summer has been even more fun as our daughter is beginning to have fun exploring different flavors. If only she was as excited to try different dinner foods. Since we eat ice cream just about every weekend, I decided a fun Sweet Summer Treats Math Printable would be the perfect compliment.

How to Use the Sweet Summer Treats Math Printable

***DISCLAIMER: Parental supervision is required with all projects. I hope you enjoy the quality time creating memories together!***

This printable is very easy to use. Print all four pages of the free printable below. Cut out all the rectangles on the third page; these will be the answers your child uses on the first two full sheets. Ask your child to count the scoops of ice cream and match the corresponding number. Proceed to the popsicle page and repeat by having them count the sprinkles. You can ask your child to identify which ice cream cone is the tallest or which popsicle has the least sprinkles for additional lessons.

Once they have completed the math activities, they can use the fourth page to make their own popsicle. Let them color and decorate as they wish. Then you can cut it out and glue it to a popsicle stick.

More Ways to Play

We like to laminate our printables to make them more sturdy for long-term use. You would laminate the first three pages in this set. After you laminate, you can cut out the rectangles on page three. We also added velcro dots after lamination. This adds an element of fine motor skills to this lesson. The act of pulling off the velcro when all done is a great exercise for little hands.

You can also laminate the first two pages and have your child write the correct number with a dry erase marker. Dry erase markers are an almost daily used supply in our house. I love things that are resuable and avoid one-time use products when possible. We take wipe-clean books whenever we run an errand, eat out, or go on a trip. I make almost all of our printables wipe-clean unless they are an art project.

When decorating their popsicles, look for objects in the house they can use as sprinkles. You can use colored rice, pom-poms, stickers, even ripped up paper.

Beat the Heat with Summer Treats

Our daughter had a good time with this easy Sweet Summer Treats Math Printable. It was a fun little break from all the outdoor play we have been doing, especially since it was near 90* this weekend. Since July is National Ice Cream Month, go out and celebrate a job well done once they complete their work. Click below to download your free printable – enjoy!
