July 7th is National Fathers and Daughters Take a Walk Together Day. I love that there is a national day for fathers and daughters to take a walk together. They get a chance to bond and spend quality time together outdoors in nature away from screens. Our daughter loves to take walks and my husband comes with us often. Since today is a day devoted to taking a walk outside, I figured it was a great time to introduce my Summer Outdoor Scavenger Hunt. This summer scavenger hunt can be used anytime during the summer, and can even be used multiple times.
Summer Outdoor Scavenger Hunt Free Printable
There isn’t really much I can say about this free printable. Print it. Take it with you on your walk. Cross off all the things you find. Pretty simple, yet kids love having a goal to reach. When they find all the things on the list, present them with some fun prize. A piece of candy, an ice cream cone, extra play time with daddy.
If you want to use it multiple times and change it up a bit, ask your kid to find a different colored flower each time. Ask them to find specific birds. I often ask our daughter to find things on our walks, she loves a game of I Spy. If I see we are coming up to a blue car I will ask her if she can find one, or I might ask her to find the number “8” if I see it on a mailbox near us.
I hope your kids enjoy finding alllllll the things like our daughter does. The Summer Outdoor Scavenger Hunt is a fun way to mix up things up. It also helps your child learn how to work towards a goal and the feeling of accomplishment once they complete their list.
Happy Adventuring!
Love the post. I love this observation day and I love scavenger hunts…working on one for botanical gardens. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! A botanical gardens scavenger hunt sounds like a lot of fun!
